Google is launching a Personal Intelligence feature that allows users to voluntarily connect Gemini to their Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and search engine accounts for more accurate and personalized responses.
This was reported by Google.
According to the developers, the new feature has two key capabilities:
-
analyzing complex sources;
-
finding specific details in emails or photos.
The system can combine information from different applications.
For example, if a user needs to find out the size of tires for a car, Gemini can find the car model in old letters or photos. It can also find the license plate number of a car in Google Photos.
AI can also analyze travel history and family interests to plan vacations, avoiding tourist traps.
Google emphasizes that the feature is completely optional:
-
by default, the connection to applications is disabled;
-
the user chooses which services to grant access to.
Gemini will refer to the source of information so that users can verify the data.
The company emphasizes that it does not use personal letters or photos to train the model. Only specific queries and model responses are used to improve the system after data anonymization.
Currently, the feature is only available in the US for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.
It works with personal Google accounts (not for business or education). The company plans to expand access to other countries in the future.
