Wizz Air will roll out Starlink satellite internet on all flights

Hungarian airline Wizz Air will begin implementing Starlink satellite internet on board its aircraft starting in 2027.

This was reported by Reuters.

The carrier will become the first European ultra-low-cost carrier to offer such a service to passengers.

More about the Wizz Air and Starlink deal

Wizz Air said that Starlink internet from SpaceX will be available across the airline’s entire fleet. The parties are not disclosing details of the agreement.

Wizz Air’s announcement came against the backdrop of SpaceX, Starlink’s parent company, going public.

According to Reuters, other budget carriers, including Ryanair and EasyJet, had previously said that installing Starlink on board is associated with significant costs. In particular, Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary estimated that using this equipment would cost his company up to $250 million a year, taking into account additional fuel costs.

Currently, Starlink already partners with a number of US airlines, including American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

The company also has partnerships with long-haul carriers, including Singapore Airlines and Emirates.

More on Wizz Air’s return to Ukraine

In March 2026, on Instagram, Wizz Air launched a marketing campaign with the message “Ukraine, we’re coming home”.

The link in that announcement led to an application form to participate in an information session for pilots about Ukraine.

Later the company commented on its statement about “returning to Ukraine”, explaining that it related to a recruitment marketing campaign.

Wizz Air said that its social media message about “returning to Ukraine” was part of a recruitment campaign and promotion of career opportunities for Ukrainians.

“The sole purpose of this campaign was to promote career opportunities at Wizz Air for citizens of Ukraine, as we continue to seek to support the development of Ukrainian civil aviation,” the company said.

At the same time, they stressed that they did not in any way intend to create the impression that flights were being resumed.

What is known about Wizz Air

Wizz Air — is a Hungarian low-cost airline founded in 2003.

It specializes in air travel primarily within Europe, and also operates flights to the Middle East and, on certain routes, to Asia.

More on the resumption of air travel in Ukraine

On March 17, 2026, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine created a working group to prepare for the resumption of operations at Ukrainian airports.

The group will operate as an advisory consultative body to the Ministry of Development.

It will develop proposals for restoring civil aviation flights after the airspace is opened.

Recall that in March 2025 Tetiana Romanovska, CEO of Lviv airport, said that it could be opened for flights “in the optimistic scenario” in April–May, or otherwise in summer 2025.

Subsequently, the press service of Lviv Airport reported that the resumption of flights in Ukraine is not expected in the near future, as the security factor still remains key.
