
Estonian-founded Starship Technologies secures $50M funding to expand autonomous delivery robots in US cities
Starship Technologies, an Estonian-founded company building a network of autonomous delivery robots, announced the successful completion of a $50 million funding. The round was led by Plural to replicate its success in European cities and US university campuses across American urban markets.

Starship Technologies was founded by Ahti Heinla and Janus Friis in 2014. It is a robotics company building fleets of self-driving robots designed to deliver goods. Each Starship robot can run for 18 hours fully charged.

According to the startup, since its launch, Starship robots have managed to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by almost 1.8 million kg.

Currently, Starship’s headquarters are in San Francisco, the company also has engineering offices in Estonia and Finland, while its UK presence includes London and Milton Keynes.

Now it’s time to replicate this proven success in American cities. Investment details
The funding round was led by Plural and includes participation from Karma.vc, Latitude, Coefficient Capital, SmartCap (funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU), and Skaala.

Based in Tallinn and London, Plural is a venture capital firm established by former startup founders to provide hands-on support to early-stage companies. Plural VC focuses on sectors such as artificial intelligence, frontier tech, and climate & energy.
The capital will accelerate US market penetration, expand the robot fleet, and strengthen partnerships with major retailers seeking proven autonomous delivery infrastructure.
