$4 billion to develop cloud AI services. Pinterest struck a deal with Amazon Web Services
Pinterest has signed a $4 billion deal with Amazon Web Services. The contract covers cloud services through 2031.
This was reported by Reuters.
Following the news, Pinterest shares rose by almost 6%, while Amazon shares gained about 1.5%.
Deal details
Under the partnership, AWS will provide Pinterest access to its own processors, including Graviton and Trainium. They will be used to scale the company’s projects in the field of artificial intelligence.
Pinterest’s Chief Technology Officer Mett Madrigal said the expanded collaboration with AWS should give the company greater compute flexibility, hardware choice and infrastructure efficiency to accelerate the execution of its AI strategy.
More on the AWS–Pinterest collaboration
The companies have worked together since 2010 to support the reliability and performance of their core services.
The new contract also foresees broader use of Amazon’s specialized chips for AI workloads.
In particular, Pinterest plans to use AWS Trainium processors to run large language models and multimodal models that power personalized visual search and AI recommendations on the platform.
Recall that in January 2026 Pinterest announced plans to reduce its workforce and office space in order to reallocate resources to artificial intelligence initiatives.
The changes will affect «less than 15%» of employees, and the layoffs are expected to be completed by September 30, 2026. As a result, Pinterest anticipates up to $45 million in restructuring costs.
