Appearance changes, comics, and photo restoration. Google showed what images users generated in Nano Banana in 2025

Google has summed up the year for its Nano Banana image generation and editing tool, which debuted in August 2025.

According to the company, the model received the highest ratings among image editing tools due to its ability to preserve faces, style, and visual integrity during complex edits.

Google has published a selection of the 13 most popular use cases for the model. Among them are:

• Photo editing — change the lighting, time of day, and atmosphere of a frame without losing any details.

• 3D figures — create realistic miniatures of people and animals from photos.

• Meeting your childhood self — combining old and new photos in one frame without changing faces.

• Comics and cartoon scenes — from simple stories to full-fledged storyboards.

• Artistic styles — watercolor, illustrations, stylized paintings.

• Experiments with appearance — hairstyles, hair color, clothing.

• Infographics — visual explanations of complex topics and objects.

• Holiday photos — realistic Christmas portraits.

• Isometric 3D scenes — fantastic cities and worlds.

• Inspiration for games — transforming landscapes into game locations.

• Fashionable looks — changing your style without completely changing who you are.

• Photo restoration — restoring old and damaged photos.

• Surreal scenes — for example, walking among dozens of puppies while maintaining a realistic appearance.

 

Nano Banana is built on Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, and since November, an extended version of Nano Banana Pro has been available, running on Gemini 3 Pro and utilizing advanced logical thinking and contextual analysis capabilities.

The tool has been integrated not only into Gemini, but also into Google Search and NotebookLM.

In November 2025, Google and OpenAI reduced the limits on the number of requests for their popular generative AI services, Nano Banana Pro and Sora, citing user demand. The changes mainly affected free users.
