FreightTech startup Conlio secures €6.4 million to expand AI-powered financial automation across Europe

Conlio, a German AI-powered financial operations platform for road freight forwarders, today announces a €6.4 million fundraise to expand across Europe – accelerating the automation of financial systems across freight.

The fundraise was led by Piton Capital, with participation from Haufe Group Ventures and the backing of two logistics groups: WaVe-X (WALTER GROUP), and F-LOG Ventures, the venture investment fund of FIEGE. Existing investors System. One, Puzzle Ventures, Booom Ventures and Yellow also participated in the round. Conlio has raised €6.4 million to date.

Dr. Claudio Consul, Founder and CEO of Conlio, says: “Freight is one of the world’s largest industries, and digitalisation has transformed large parts of it. But the industry is full of edge cases and decisions that depend on context, which has made true end-to-end automation difficult with traditional software. AI changes that.

“At sennder, I saw first-hand how much operational complexity still sits behind freight documentation, settlement and payments. With Conlio, we turn that complexity into verified data and automated financial workflows. Our long-term ambition is to change how money moves across supply chains, and verified freight documents are where this begins.”

Conlio’s fundraise follows a series of European investments in freight software and AI-enabled financial operations during 2026.

In Germany, Hamburg-based Procuros raised €20 million to automate supply-chain data exchange and invoicing, while Berlin-based cargo.one secured nearly €17 million for its multimodal freight platform.

Elsewhere, Ukraine-based Cargofy raised €5.2 million in primary capital for AI-powered freight operations, Belgium’s Vectrix secured €1.15 million for transport-order automation, and Denmark’s Plinto and the UK’s Zalos raised €2.9 million and €3.1 million respectively for AI-enabled financial workflows.

Together, these rounds represent approximately €49.4 million in newly raised funding, excluding Conlio’s investment.

EU-Startups has also previously covered Conlio investor F-LOG Ventures’ participation in Germany’s FRYTE Mobility, which raised €3.5 million in September to expand its electric truck charging coordination platform.

Michael Macklin, Investor at Piton Capital, adds:”Road freight forwarding handles huge volumes of transactions dependent on manual checks, and many people have been stumped on how to fix this. What we liked most about Conlio and Claudio was that they know the problem inside out, from the perspective of their customers, while also having the technologist’s insight on how it can be done differently.

“The product is already embedded in customers’ daily operations and we believe that can build a platform with powerful network effects as more participants join and more transactions flow through it.”

Founded in Berlin in 2023 by Dr Claudio Consul, Conlio uses AI to turn complex freight documents into verified data and automate the financial workflows that follow.

The company explains that European road freight is a roughly €430 billion market, yet freight forwarders operate on thin margins. Conlio can reportedly automate more than 90% of freight document checks, reducing manual processing costs, catching overpayments and accelerating invoicing.

Conlio’s platform can increase a forwarders’ EBIT by up to 30% – more than €1 million in annual EBIT impact for a forwarder with €100 million in revenue.

Every road freight transport generates a trail of documents, from CMRs and proofs of delivery to carrier invoices. Before paying carriers or invoicing customers, forwarders need to check that those documents are complete and correct. But documents arrive in different formats and languages, often contain handwritten notes, and need to be checked against rules that vary by customer, route and geography.

This complexity has historically made the process difficult to automate with traditional software.

Conlio uses AI to read, interpret and verify freight documents at scale, applying context that traditional rules-based software struggles to understand. A single CMR, for example, can carry up to four dates, recording when it was issued, when the goods were collected, when they were delivered and other events during the transport.

The challenge is not reading the date but knowing which event it refers to, and Conlio checks each one against the requirements for that shipment.

Thomas Muscher, Managing Director at WaVe-X, says: “AI is moving from pilot projects into the core processes of freight forwarding, and the finance back office is one of the areas where the impact is most immediate. Conlio turns unstructured freight documents into verified transaction data, which is the foundation for genuinely automated, increasingly agentic workflows. With WALTER GROUP’s decades of experience in European road transport, WaVe-X can support Conlio not only with capital but with real industry insight as it scales across Europe.”
