The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, has awarded 17-year old Simone Borsetti the title of Alfiere della Repubblica for “improving the environment and health” in his home town of Ferrara in northern Italy. While still at school, Borsetti has helped monitor environmental strains on public well-being in the frame of the LIFE-funded Gioconda project.
