Spotify will mark AI performers with special badges. Such music will not appear in recommendations
Spotify will begin displaying a special AI Persona badge on profiles of musical artists that were created using artificial intelligence.
The company announced this.
By default, tracks by such performers will not be included in the platform’s editorial and algorithmic recommendations.
More about the AI Persona badge
Spotify notes that users react negatively to profiles that look like pages of real people but actually represent AI-created personas.
For this reason, Spotify aims to make it clearer to listeners who is behind the music they are hearing.
The AI Persona badge will appear in the profile banner, the “About the artist” section, in search, and next to tracks in playlists.

The streaming service will, by default, exclude AI accounts from editorial and algorithmic recommendations. Music from such creators will not be included in listeners’ personalized playlists unless they are subscribed to the respective accounts.
The identification process will be carried out in two ways:
- through a voluntary declaration by the artist in Spotify for Artists;
- through moderation by Spotify’s team, which will review profiles with photorealistic AI images (first and foremost for artists with a large audience).
If moderators apply the labeling forcibly, performers will receive a notification and the ability to appeal. In the future, listeners will also be able to report suspicious profiles themselves.
What other tools Spotify uses to label AI content
To highlight AI use in the creative process, Spotify already uses tools like AI Credits and SongDNA. Additionally, in 2026 the platform implemented a number of other transparency features:
- Verified by Spotify: confirmation that the profile belongs to a real person;
- Artist Details: display of career achievements, release history, and touring activity;
- Artist Profile Protection: protection of profiles from unauthorized attribution of others’ releases.
The service’s algorithms are also tuned to exclude spam and low-quality content (slop) from the recommendation system when signaled.
How other companies mark AI content
Among companies that recently announced AI content labeling is Google. In particular, the company started showing users whether an ad was created or edited using artificial intelligence.
You can view whether an ad was generated with AI by clicking the three-dot button or the information icon next to the ad.
If an ad was created by other AI services, advertisers must label it manually. In some regions, such a label may also appear directly on the ad itself.
A similar mechanism is already used by Meta, which shows an AI info badge in the About this ad section.
In addition, the company Anthropic will label content generated by Claude using invisible watermarks in text and digital metadata in files.
For text, Claude will use an invisible watermark. It will be embedded directly into the text and is not supposed to affect its content, quality, or readability.
According to Anthropic, the watermark will persist when text is copied and pasted and may survive some modifications.
