
In 2026, Elon Musk’s company Neuralink will begin large-scale production of neurochips and fully automate the surgical procedures for their installation.

The first patient to have the device implanted was able to play video games, browse web pages, post on social media, and control the cursor on a laptop.
Human trials began in 2024 after the company resolved safety issues with the US Food and Drug Administration (the application was rejected in 2022).
In September, Neuralink reported that 12 people with severe paralysis around the world had already received implants. They use the devices to control digital and physical tools.
