Elon Musk’s startup xAI has restricted the image generation feature in its Grok chatbot on the X social network to paid subscribers only. The reason for this was the use of the tool to create explicit images using artificial intelligence, Reuters reports.
The image generation feature allowed X users to edit or create explicit photos. As Reuters found out, it was used to create images of women and children in minimal clothing.

As a reminder, in January 2026, Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI announced the completion of its Series E funding round, which raised $20 billion for the company. This significantly exceeds the initial target of $15 billion.
