Austrian BENTELER acquires Germany’s ioki to create Europe’s first full-service autonomous mobility provider
The BENTELER Group, an Austrian industrial group operates in automotive, energy, and mechanical engineering, including its autonomous mobility unit HOLON, has acquired ioki GmbH, a European provider of software-based mobility solutions, from Deutsche Bahn AG. Further details of the transaction will remain confidential.

The company is a spin-off from Deutsche Bahn and works with public transport operators on data-driven planning and the integration of autonomous vehicles.

According to the companies, the acquisition creates Europe’s first full-service provider for autonomous mobility, combining vehicles, software, and operations under one roof.

By bringing together ioki’s on-demand and routing software with BENTELER subsidiary HOLON’s autonomous shuttles and Benteler Mobility’s operational and financing capabilities, the deal is expected to simplify and lower the cost of deploying autonomous transport for cities and transit operators, while accelerating international expansion of the technology.
