Apple introduced MacBook Pro with M6 chip: what’s changed

Apple introduced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, which delivers up to 30% higher graphics performance and up to 25% faster performance on artificial intelligence tasks compared with the previous M5.

The company said.

Pre-orders open on October 28, and sales begin on November 6, 2026.

What changed in the MacBook Pro with the M6 chip

The new MacBook Pro features the M6 chip with a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. Compared with the M5, both processors have two additional cores, which should speed up work in apps, graphics and complex projects.

According to Apple, graphics performance increased by up to 30%. The laptop processes 3D graphics, photos and video faster. In addition, the M6 also uses third-generation ray tracing technology and Dynamic Caching, which helps allocate memory more efficiently.

The company paid special attention to AI workloads. The M6 chip is equipped with Neural Accelerators in every GPU core and two 16-core Neural Engines.

Apple claims that AI task processing is up to 25% faster compared with the M5, and Neural Engine performance has increased up to 1.9 times. This should speed up local work with large language models, image generation and other AI-related tasks.

For users of older MacBooks the difference may be greater. In particular, Apple says request processing for language models is accelerated up to 13 times compared with the MacBook Pro with M1. Ray-traced rendering in Blender can run up to 11.7 times faster, and code compilation in Xcode up to 2.5 times.

What specifications the new MacBook Pro has

The base version of the laptop comes with 16 GB of unified memory, while the maximum configuration offers 32 GB. Memory bandwidth reaches 170 GB/s, which should help when working with large files and demanding applications.

Apple kept the 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with peak brightness up to 1600 nits when showing HDR content. Buyers can also choose a screen with a nanotexture coating that reduces glare.

Other specifications include:

  • up to 24 hours of battery life;
  • Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for faster wireless connectivity;
  • a 12‑megapixel Center Stage camera that automatically keeps the user in frame during video calls;
  • six speakers with spatial audio support and three microphones;
  • three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, an SDXC slot and a headphone jack;
  • fast charging up to 50% in 30 minutes with a compatible power adapter.

The laptop also supports connecting two external displays.

The MacBook Pro with M6 will run macOS 27 Golden Gate, which received an updated Siri AI assistant and new Apple Intelligence features.

The model will be available in two colors — Space Black (black) and Silver (silver).
