Amsterdam’s Indurex raises €7 million to strengthen cybersecurity and safety across cyber-physical systems

Indurex, an Amsterdam-based startup building an AI-native platform for Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) security, has raised €7 million in funding, less than nine months after coming out of stealth.

The round was led by Contrarian Ventures, the European early-stage firm that backs energy and industrial technology companies, with participation from Axeleo Capital and Dutch venture capital firm Curiosity.

“Electrification is putting more critical infrastructure online, and attacks on it are rising, with the damage felt in the physical world: cold homes, dark hospitals, water that stops flowing. Detection alone is no longer enough. Operators need to understand what an alert means for the physical process behind it. Having built and sold a company in this space, Jalal knows what operators across oil and gas, power and manufacturing need, which makes Indurex one of very few companies that understands both the network packet and the physical process,” said Rokas Peciulaitis, Founder and Managing Partner at Contrarian Ventures.

Indurex was founded by Jalal Bouhdada and Maarten Oosterink, seasoned practitioners in operational technology (OT), process safety, and cybersecurity. The company launched in January 2026 with a stated goal of keeping complex cyber-physical systems resilient, safe, and secure for operators in oil and gas, energy, utilities, manufacturing, and data centres. The company brings together cybersecurity, process safety, and engineering operations under a single layer of intelligence called Engineering Intelligence.

Its offering is called Indurex SafeGuard AI, a platform that ingests data from distributed control systems, safety instrumented systems, historians, alarm management systems, and IT security tools. It then uses AI agents to surface anomalies and engineering deviations, giving operators a unified view that links cybersecurity alerts directly to the physical process behind them, something conventional OT security systems have failed to address.

“Cyber defences in these critical sectors have focused solely on the network. We focus on the core industrial data itself: the engineering, process and safety signals that determine whether a plant is operating within safe limits. Cybersecurity and operational excellence have too often been managed as separate disciplines — Engineering Intelligence is the missing layer, and this funding allows us to bring that capability to more operators across critical infrastructure,” said Bouhdada, co-founder and CEO of Indurex.

Indurex says its early customers range from mid-sized energy and manufacturing companies to large multinational enterprises. With Indurex’s AI platform, these customers are reportedly seeing value across three areas: operational excellence and safety integrity, through unified situational awareness; cyber resilience via detection and response aligned to operational and safety impact; and compliance through automated reporting against frameworks including IEC 62443, IEC 61511/61508, NIS2, NIST CSF and NERC CIP.

The funding comes as cyber threats to industrial environments intensify. According to the SANS Institute’s State of ICS/OT Security 2025 survey, more than one in five industrial organisations experienced an ICS or OT cyber incident in the past year, with 40% of those incidents disrupting operations and close to 20% taking more than a month to fully remediate.

Indurex says it will deploy the fresh capital toward research and development and expand its commercial operations across Europe and the Middle East, ahead of a subsequent expansion into the United States and Asia-Pacific.
