Members of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) have elected Vasco Alves Cordeiro as their new President for the next two and a half years. The member of the Regional Parliament of the Azores will lead the EU’s assembly of regional and local representatives, focusing on strengthening democracy, defending cohesion policy, reaching the goals of the EU Green Deal and enhancing regional support for Ukraine. CoR members also elected Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Governor of Central Macedonia in Greece, as their new First Vice-President.
