The Second Ministerial Conference on Sustainable Blue Economy aimed at improving maritime governance while addressing the environmental and climate-related challenges the blue economy sectors are currently facing.
Ministers from the 42 UfM countries gathered virtually and agreed to a new Declaration following a broad consultation to which more than 100 experts and representatives from international organisations have contributed.
The Declaration also strives to improve regional and subregional cooperation as ministers called to make full use of Interreg programmes and to further enhance synergies to actively support the development of sustainable blue economy in the Adriatic and Ionian region.
Several Interreg MED projects, such as PlasticBusters MPAs and BLUEfasma, support through their activities the implementation of the UfM Ministerial Declaration on Blue Economy and reflect the joint priorities identified and agreed by the UfM member countries.
