On November 17, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) held a Task Force meeting on Environment which gathered country representatives and regional stakeholders.
The aim of the meeting was to continue drafting the 2030GreenerMed Agenda which will serve as a tool for collaboration in the following axis: 1) Supporting the transition towards a Green, Circular and Socially Inclusive Economy 2) Prevent and reduce pollution on land, air and sea 3) Protect, preserve, manage and restore natural resources in the Mediterranean region within an integrated ecosystem approach, including terrestrial, marine and coastal dimensions.
As part of the Task Force meeting, the UfM presented an update on the portfolio of labelled or UfM related projects. Several Interreg MED projects were showcased; the Biodiversity Protection, Sustainable Tourism and Green Growth communities, MPA Engage and MPA Networks.
In order to support the drafting and future implementation of the 2030GreenerMed Agenda, the results of 25 Interreg MED projects were taken into account.
The coordination work by the UfM exposes links between MED projects, Greener Med key actions, relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and EU Green Deal objectives they tackle.
