Perplexity has likely raised $200 million at a valuation of $20 billion
American artificial intelligence startup Perplexity has raised $200 million in a new round of funding, valuing the company at $20 billion, according to The Information.
Reuters notes that it has been unable to independently confirm this information, and Perplexity has not yet commented.

The company is led by Aravind Srinivas. In August, Perplexity made a surprise offer to buy Chrome from Alphabet for $34.5 billion in cash — significantly exceeding its own market valuation.

The startup, backed by NVIDIA, is developing its own AI browser, Comet, which can perform some tasks on behalf of the user.
The acquisition of Chrome would give Perplexity access to more than three billion users and strengthen its position in competition with major players, including OpenAI, which is also working on its own AI browser.
