OpenAI is preparing a job search platform that could rival LinkedIn
OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, has announced the creation of an AI-driven job search platform that will help candidates find employers using artificial intelligence, CNBC reports.
The new service could become a direct competitor to LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft — also OpenAI’s main investor.
The project, called OpenAI Jobs Platform, is planned to be launched by mid-2026. According to OpenAI’s director of applications and former Instacart CEO Fidji Simo, the platform will not only help large companies recruit staff, but will also support local businesses and authorities in their search for AI specialists.
In addition, OpenAI is developing the OpenAI Academy training program, which teaches AI skills. As part of this program, they will introduce certification in “AI literacy” — from basic skills to specialized professions, including prompt engineering.
Journalists report that OpenAI plans to certify at least 10 million Americans by 2030. Walmart is already collaborating with the company, integrating the program into its own training processes.
The company positions the initiative as part of its collaboration with the White House to improve digital literacy.
It has also received a contract from the Pentagon worth up to $200 million and is participating in the large-scale Stargate project to develop AI infrastructure in the US.
