Natura 2000 Award open for applications!!

The Natura 2000 network, engaged in protecting threatened species and habitats, launched the 6th edition of the Natura 2000 Award. 

Preserving biodiversity is an extraordinary challenge that requires strategic efforts and people that work tirelessly, thus the aim of the award is to demonstrate what the Network 2000 is, what it does to preserve Europe’s biodiversity, and how it benefits us all. 

Application for the 2022 edition are now open and can be submitted until 30 September 2021, midnight CET. The award recognises the achievements and the good practices of Natura 2000 sites and this year its categories have been updated with a new one focused on Marine conservation! The award recognises the excellent management of Natura 2000 sites in five different categories: 

  • Conservation on land 
  • Marine conservation
  • Communication
  • Socio-economic benefits
  • Cross-border cooperation

Anyone directly involved in Natura 2000 – businesses, authorities, NGO, educational institutions or individuals – can apply. If you are interested in participating or knowing more about successful projects of biodiversity preservation, have a look at the Natura 2000 website!
