Microsoft and OpenAI expand cooperation. The companies have announced a new stage in their partnership

OpenAI and Microsoft have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) outlining the direction of their future cooperation.

The document is preliminary in nature, and the parties are currently working on finalizing the terms of the contract.

• The joint statement emphasizes that the main goal of the partnership remains to create the best artificial intelligence tools for users around the world.

• Microsoft invested more than $13 billion between 2019 and 2023 and received about 49% of OpenAI’s future profits.

• OpenAI also announced key steps in its long-awaited restructuring. The company said it would transfer a stake worth at least $100 billion to a non-profit organization that controls its activities.

This move comes amid growing pressure from regulators, competitors, and artificial intelligence experts who warn that OpenAI may be overly focused on commercial growth, straying from its original mission of developing AI safely.

The company previously announced the launch of a job search platform and the OpenAI Academy training program, which will teach AI skills.
