Interreg MED and Youth for Climate united aginst climate change

Today and for the upcoming days, we will reflect upon our past, present and future efforts to fight climate change and hopefully take (stronger) actions.

Today starts the COP 25, the conference on climate change organised by the United Nations every year since 1995. On this occasion, the parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change gather to assess the progress in dealing with climate change and set the new objectives. The conference ends on 13th December 2019.

The Interreg MED Programme is strongly committed to fight climate change. This is why during our event, MED for YOU, in Athens, on 24th October, we invited a young activist from Youth for Climate to raise our participants’ (partners but also politicians) awareness on the issue. Augustin made an impactful speech highlighting the importance of remaining together as a Union to tackle this challenge because “Union is strength”.

Adelaïde, one of his counterparts and coordinator of the movement sent us a video that she made while she was sailing towards Brazil for the COP25 since she couldn’t attend our event.

Interreg will be represented by several Programmes hosting a session on “Interreg vs Climate Change: results, challenges, opportunities on 7th December. If you are there, do not hesitate to pass by!
