Google has announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence tool called Guided Learning, integrated into the Gemini platform. The new feature, which appeared on the eve of the new school year, is designed to become an AI mentor for pupils and students — not just providing answers, but helping them to understand the learning material more deeply.
Guided Learning was launched less than two weeks after the release of Study Mode from OpenAI in ChatGPT. Both developments are aimed at transforming chatbots from “quick tips” into full-fledged tools for developing critical thinking and independent learning.
Gemini’s new functionality allows you to solve problems step by step, adapting explanations to the user’s needs. For a better understanding of complex topics, the tool uses images, diagrams, videos, and interactive quizzes. This approach should help users learn not only what the correct answer is, but also why it is correct.
In addition to Guided Learning, Google is expanding Gemini’s capabilities as a learning assistant. From now on, answers will automatically include images, diagrams, and YouTube videos to improve comprehension of complex topics. Users will also be able to request flashcards or personalized learning guides based on test results or school materials.
In addition, Google announced the launch of a free one-year subscription to the AI Pro plan for students in the US, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Brazil. The subscription provides access to advanced features, including Gemini 2.5 Pro, NotebookLM, Veo 3, Deep Research, and other tools.
