DestiMED PLUS developed and offers ecotourism packages that respect the resources of protected areas, the well-being of inhabitants and even provide incentives for conservation. They are a great alternative to mass tourism.
Supporting 9 Mediterranean regions and respective Protected Areas improving integrated planning strategies to promote ecotourism, the Interreg MED DestiMED PLUS projects has been selected as one of the 21 finalists of the European Natura 2000 Award for the Socio-economic benefits category.
At its 6th edition, the European Natura 2000 Award rewards excellence in the management of Natura 2000 sites and showcases the network’s added value of conserving nature for local communities and economies across the European Union.
A high-level jury will choose the winner for each of the five Award categories and the finalist receiving the highest number of votes will win the Citizens’ Award 2022!
