Defense startups received $30k: winners of the Defence Builder accelerator
On July 15, the Defence Builder accelerator held its Demo Day. 9 graduate teams presented their technical developments.
The organization team shared insoles with us.
Three winning startups received $30,000 each, including:
- “Startup of the Batch” – Strug. Developers of an unmanned FPV drone carrier boat with a range of up to 240 km. The team has produced a pilot batch of six boats and is raising $500,000 for scaling.
- “Military Choice” – Coalas. Coalas radio control systems reduce the risk of losing boats in the face of Russian electronic warfare and allow drones to extend their range. Coalas is raising $600,000 in investment for R&D, scaling, marketing, and equipment.
- “Rising Force” – Barvinok-5. A project of a digital video module for FPV. The team is looking for $300,000 to launch mass production of video modules. The plan is to assemble the first 100 working modules, start integration with drone manufacturers, and conduct tests on the front line.
“The developments of our graduates are already giving a real advantage on the battlefield, and this is the best proof of our common mission. Now they are full-fledged players, ready for a new stage,” comments Kateryna Bezsudna, CEO of Defence Builder.
Other participants in the program included:
- Birds of Fury: a kamikaze aircraft for guided and autonomous strikes behind enemy lines;
- Technary: a Mongoose UAV jet interceptor;
- Warm Wind: a smart detonator for controlled detonation of landmines;
- Frontyr: a medium-range strike system consisting of a cost-effective strike drone and a repeater drone;
- Legit Force: smart minefields that can be quickly deployed and remotely monitored;
- DronmateAI: a military-grade microcomputer for autonomous combat systems.
Defence Builder is a Ukrainian defense technology accelerator founded in 2024 to train teams and support the systemic development of Ukraine’s defense sector.
The initiative is implemented by Sigma Software Labs, Kyiv School of Economics and Buntar Aerospace.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian government has passed a resolution allowing Brave1 to issue grants to explosives manufacturers.
The funds can be used to create or expand production lines, purchase equipment, chemical components, systems and complexes for the manufacture of explosives and ammunition components.
