Estonian medtech Better Medicine raises €1M in pre-seed funding to expand AI-powered diagnostic tools

Better Medicine, a startup developing AI-powered diagnostic tools for radiology, has raised €1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Soulmates Ventures, with participation from Specialist VC, UT Ventures, and several angel investors. The company shared the news with AIN.

About Better Medicine

  • Better Medicine is an Estonian medical AI startup founded in 2020, focused on developing CE-certified software tools for cancer detection and diagnosis in radiology.

  • Its flagship product, BMVision Kidney, integrates into radiologists’ workflows to detect and measure kidney lesions in CT scans. The platform uses clinically validated AI models to automate lesion detection and measurement, improving efficiency with up to 52% time savings and a 99.2% detection rate.

  • Better Medicine operates in six countries, collaborating with hospitals and research institutions globally, and has received CE certification for its kidney cancer detection tool.

“Radiologists are under immense pressure to maintain total focus on highly repetitive tasks that don’t necessarily require medical expertise but are still critical for diagnosis. Imagine a second set of eyes, but multiplied by 1000, always alert and never tired: we are making early cancer detection easy and freeing doctors to avoid burnout and focus on what truly requires their judgment. The upside is more human lives saved,” says Priit Salumaa, founder and CEO of Better Medicine.
