Anthropic raises $15B in investments from Microsoft and NVIDIA and buys Azure for $30B

Anthropic, Microsoft, and NVIDIA have announced new partnerships involving investments of up to $15 billion and Anthropic’s purchase of $30 billion worth of Azure computing power.

This is stated in the companies’ official announcement.

Under the agreements, Anthropic will scale its Claude models on Microsoft Azure using NVIDIA infrastructure. The company has already committed to purchasing $30 billion worth of Azure capacity and may order up to 1 gigawatt of additional computing infrastructure.

The companies will collaborate on engineering solutions, optimizing Anthropic’s models for maximum performance and energy efficiency, and future NVIDIA architectures for Claude’s needs.

Initial capacity for Anthropic will include up to 1 GW of NVIDIA Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin-based systems.

Microsoft and Anthropic are also expanding their collaboration:

  • The Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Opus 4.1, and Claude Haiku 4.5 models will be available to Microsoft Foundry customers.

  • Claude will become the only flagship AI model available on three global cloud platforms simultaneously.

  • Claude models will be integrated into GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Copilot Studio.

Under the new agreement, NVIDIA will invest up to $10 billion in Anthropic, and Microsoft will invest up to $5 billion.
