Anduril and Meta have unveiled EagleEye, an AI-powered helmet with command capabilities for combatants
American defense company Anduril Industries, in collaboration with Meta, has announced EagleEye, a modular helmet-mounted system with built-in artificial intelligence that combines mission command, augmented reality, and protective elements for soldiers.
-
The system allows users to plan operations, control drones, and monitor the performance of robotic “teammates” by integrating data from the Lattice network.
-
The system allows you to create a shared 3D planning panel, advanced tracking of allied units in three-dimensional space, integration of video and sensor feeds, and control of unmanned aerial vehicles even in challenging conditions. EagleEye also includes a digital HUD for night vision, rear and side view sensors, spatial audio, and RF threat detection.
-
The development is being carried out in collaboration with Meta, Qualcomm, Gentex, and OSI, allowing commercial AR, sensor, and helmet technologies to be adapted for military purposes. EagleEye is planned to be available in helmet, visor, and goggle configurations, with the ability to update software and integrate with existing US Army systems.
Analysts note that the new technology offers potential advantages in command and situational awareness, but at the same time raises questions of security, privacy, and ethics regarding the integration of commercial technologies into combat systems.
